flames en building. >> the fear is officially out. it took 12 hours for crews to gain control of the flames. overnight, firefighters were seen assessing the damage. we do know many of the priceless art affects have been saved. this morning, french president is vowing to rebuild. >> josh. >> reporter: well, good morning from paris. it's now 2:30 in the afternoon here along the banks of the sensesnes -- sees. the flames were super intense as they were eating through this historic centuries old cathedral built during the middle ages. right now fire investigators, there are about 50 in there trying to figure out what led to

this in the first place they believe it had to do with the restoration project. that was ongoing and expected to take itself 20 years. obviously, that is going to take a good deal longer than that, because of the heavy, heavy damage that the cathedral sustained yesterday. there are already 2 billionaires here in paris who have agreed to contribute a combined 300 million euros, about 450 million dollars to the rebuilding effort. it's really not clear how long it will take or how much it will cost. coming back to a live picture right now. this is a new development we've seen bermuda, it's the middle of the afternoon for a tuesday. for much of the day, it's been silent, a ghost town. very few people out. now people are coming out to see the damage. there is a huge psychic hole torn in the heart of this city. notre dame is in the heart of this city and this country.

it will be grey around. we will not completely get rid of the clouds today. they will definitely be brighter. a little warmer as we head into the afternoon hours, overnight most of the cloud cover goes away. that's why what little moisture is out there can turn into fog as i mentioned. as we get through tomorrow, full on sunshine in the afternoon hours, even warmer than today. today is pretty close to average especially as you go inland. we start to hit some upper 60s. we'll be in the mid-60s around the bay. low 60s along the coast into san francisco. cooler tonight, look at this mid- to upper-40s, let's see what those high temperatures will do. first we look at the storm pattern, wow, looks like our satellite, trying to make the earth look like the death star. let's move on, know that high pressure is moving in. wednesday, thursday, friday, look at the surge into the 70s and 80s. we get an on shore flow saturday around sunday. >> that brings our temperatures down a little bit on the bay and land significantly at the coast, the warmth surge is starting again next sunday.

ground and burst into flames. this happened early yet morning. he thought the line was de-energized but it wasn't. safety equipment he was wearing kept him from being electrocuted and he was able to quickly get away from the flames. a stranger tried to gab a child in san francisco's castro neighborhood. >> a couple heard the mother yelling for help near market and 17th streets. they came to the rescue and chased after that suspect. witnesses say 34-year-old roscoe holyoak took the child and started running and suddenly stopped. they say he put the toddler down and smiled at everyone and tried to run. . >> we started alerting people ahead of us. hey, he's trying to get away. i think at that point the man found he was cornered. he gave up, put his hands in the air. at that point i went and grabbed him. >> police arrested holyoke on suspicion of kidnapping.
